Thanks again everyone, that's very helpful advice, I think I will try going for a course with a yacht club to start with, and you are right then I can see how much I like it before I commit to the rya.

John, re Hawaii, not sure! Have booked flights, but haven't decided which islands yet, but if you can reccomed anywhere particularly good that might make me head there.
