80 liter fridge and charter

I am planning the provisioning for an 7 day charter for four people on a boat with an 80 liter fridge and a cockpit cooler of unknown size. I can plan out the provisioning, but don't want to end up with too little fridge space.

Does anyone have any guidance on how large 80 liters is?

I plan to have two beef dinners, two fish dinners, a chicken dinner, breakfasts and lunches with cheese, bacon, and sausage, yogurt, dressings and condiments. Lot's of eggs, but plan to not cool them (eggs shouldn't need refrigeration). The rest of it are veggies, breads, grains and pasta that should not need refrigeration.

The area looks to not have any grocery stores (upper exumas).

Any guidance and recommendations are appreciated.

Re: 80 liter fridge and charter

We have a 65 quart freezer which Google tells me is about 62 litres. We are able to stock 2-4 months of meat, cheese, ect. Closer to 4 months if we have no guests, just the two of us.
And of course you need room in the fridge for beer!
Upper exumas has really only highbourne to shop at. It's pretty limited and pretty expensive. I recommend getting everything you can hold in Nassau.

Re: 80 liter fridge and charter

If you are an American, an 80 liter fridge is about the size of a “dorm” or “bar” fridge. Those little cube refrigerators. We have 100l fridge on our boat and with 2-3 people on board and careful stocking it manages several weeks of cold food. Again, if American, that careful stocking includes not putting things in the fridge that don’t need it. Eggs, for instance, will easily keep a week outside the fridge even if they are the American “washed and cooled” kind when you buy them. Much longer if they are straight from the farm.

As Chris states above, liters are a bit bigger than quarts. An 80 liter fridge will be bigger than this 70 quart cooler: https://www.amazon.com/Coleman-70-Qu...13147386&psc=1 . For provisioning it might make sense to bring a cooler full of frozen foodstuffs with you on the plane. We did that for a trip returning from Bermuda and avoided having to buy meat in $aint George$. Soft bag coolers work well for this on boats. This one is 38 liters:https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/9970...rtTest02&SS2=B Check about the rules for the Bahamas and bringing in foodstuffs - you don't want it confiscated on arrival!

Depends where you are. The Canadian gallon is 4 quarts and about 4.6 liters.

A liter, like the speed of light, never changes. But there are at least two different gallons. Maybe the "imperial gallon" is still used in Canada. An imperial gallon is 5 quarts; so about 4.6 liters.
