Re: 3 boats on fire in St Martin
Got there before the fire brigade (that's not difficult) and helped with a fire hose but we were a little downwind and the water wouldn't reach.
Fire is at a dock between Island Water World and Lagoonies.
Fortunately no boats close and downwind.

That's one expensive smoke maker.
Hope there are no injuries.

Re: 3 boats on fire in St Martin
I would be very interested in hearing about the cause. If one of you guys to ask around to see what kind of batteries on board each vessel would be enlightening. In incidents like this I wonder what kind of investigation of cause is made? I feel really sorry for the boat owners. Just horrible.

Re: 3 boats on fire in St Martin
It's scary just seeing a boat on fire. I've witnessed two myself. Hope everyone was safe.

Re: 3 boats on fire in St Martin
OK,
Just got the info (direct from a high authority)
A man was working on his gas cylinder and it caught fire badly burning his leg.
That must have been one of the 2 upwind boats.

When I wrote that I thought it was a propane gas cylinder, but its believed to be a gasoline (petrol) tank.

So that is what it looks like to see a million dollars to go in smoke.

Very sad for all involved. Good to know everyone will live to see another day.
