2020/2021 Plans for East Coast US Cruisers

Well the Bahamas and Caribbean may or may not open up in the next couple of months. So what are the snowbirds along the east coast of the US cruising plans for the season?

I wonder if a vaccine comes out if the testing requirements for the Bahamas will go away if you get it.

Still planning on the Bahamas or bunkering up somewhere in FL until the green flag.

Your reference to "snowbirds" may be working against you/your poll, No?

None of the above, really. Getting far enough south not to freeze once winter sets in.

Definitely not going to flaky flip-flopping Bahamas and instead staying in "home" waters with our ugly blue murka passports. Monroe county is just as flaky as the Bahamas in my opinion, and southern Florida much beyond Stuart is pretty down on anchoring cruisers anyhow.

I guess we'll range between St. Augustine, which is as far North as is tolerable once winter sets in, and Stuart. Maybe we will check out the Okeechobee and go over to the Gulf Coast for a bit.

Florida unfortunately is a huge COVID hot spot, we were kind of spoiled here in Delmarva this summer because it is much safer, but it's already starting to get quite cool some nights -we are running heat already after dark. We can't stay here much longer.

There are simply too many uncertainties to plan too much. I have a bunch of contingencies, but it currently looks like hunkering down and being patient is the only one that will pan out.

We have reserved a dock space in a small NC marina for Jan/Feb/March. We will be over wintering aboard.

Currently we are in the hard doing some much needed boat work.

Come summer we will head to Canada, then back to the Carib after hurricane season, Covid willing.

We are hoping for the Bahamas but prepared to spend the winter in Florida before heading to New England next year. We’ll see how it pans out. I guess that means we should check 5 of the boxes in the poll.

I checked many of them.

The funny thing is the thread has had a few views, but not a lot of poll votes. Yet i put a choice on it for forum readers.

The poll taker was not interested in that data

Here's hoping .

Since I'm not a US cruiser I don't have anything to add, although I do plan to be cruising the east coast -- of Canada -- come Summer 2021.
