Just a shout out to all you East Coast American folks to encourage you to visit Atlantic Canada this summer. Our dollar has crapped out and you folks can have an inexpensive cruising season in some of the nicest waters to be found. Your dollar is worth $1.40 CDN so come on up Nova Scotia way and have a time 😀

As it turns out, my plan at this point is to retire and do the Downeast Loop, which will bring me right past the LaHave River, which your profile shows as your home port.

Oddly enough, when I first started thinking about doing this, the Loonie was at parity with the US $ and diesel was going for $4 a gallon in the US. If current trends hold, the overall cost of this trip will be considerably less than I first budgeted.

We've been to Nova Scotia in our last boat, but only just between Yarmouth and St. Mary's Bay. Looking forward to seeing the more of the Province, along with Quebec, NB and PEI, from the water. Would love to make it over to Newfoundland, but I'm not counting on it this trip.

Be sure to come up the Lahave and visit us at the LRYC, it's a working mans yacht club and a great place to have a beer and a meal 😀

Great plug for the East coast Peters Wet!!
We may not have the tropical climate but we certainly have everything else you could ask for and now like you said, alot of bang for your buck.
There are several well equipted marinas in both Nova scotia and Newfoundland but pretty well every community boaters are welcomed, just knock on a door and your sure to be invited in for a bite to eat.
The one warning i give to cruisers who venture up this way is you might not want to go back!!!

Here is one of the reasons to come this way, this was taken off comfort cove , NL in July temp was 30 c (86f)

I look a bit closer than I actually was. This one was fairly small and grounded but still can create a decent wave when calving. Just like a stick of dynamite when breaking, quite impressive to experiance.
Half of greenland's ice sheet must have broken away in 2012, Iceberg count in 2014 was literally in the thousands along the NE coast.
30 thousand year old ice for your drinks, Rum taste some sweet!!!
