no hinges, no clips.. i have yanked, and pulled to no avail. guess i have to cut a hole in the hull to access the back :P

The extra tank is is most likely the second water tank. The 55s have 2 fuel tanks, 75 gallons each and two water tanks, 160 gallon and 90 gallon, total of 250 gallons of agua.

i was told i have 100 gallons. but the old owner knew nothing really. could be. i need to pop the inspection cover off.

Not sure of your question about the bilges being unconnected.

shouldn't there be a passage way between them so the front drains to the back?

Most likely nailed (or screwed), then the holes filled and painted over... so it wouldn't accidently fall out.

looking at your electrical panel, I didn't even see one electric bilge pump listed, just the shower pan pumps.

The breaker for the Loran did give me a bit of a chuckle!

Hiya Scoob! You should consider re-wiring this boat to current electrical codes; it is not going to be cheap, but it is worth it. Marine toys are power hungry; I wouldn't trust the current wiring to handle the load.

Looks like a fairly typical list of jobs on a 20 year oldish yacht, I find just doing one job at a time is the way to go,if you look at the whole lot it can get too hard.MY yacht had a wobbly keel wobbly mast and the stern was rotting off her but shes all good now not perfect but a good cruiser enjoy your project.

i will be.
the engine is being rewired first, done my way...
each control will be wired separate.
fuel cut off, fuel pump, starter, gauges, will all have their own wire.
the rest in time. the current wiring is good quality tinned wire.

See, you are going to re-wire anyway, just pry the panel molding off and fix it right later.

I'd hate to think what would happen if you have a fire behind that panel before you re-wire. yuck
