I've been the
Caribbean for 8 months now. Not seen as much as I'd have liked, but obviously couldn't be helped.
I'm curious, where are all the nice
anchorages.
So far I've been to
Martinique, St Anne, Le Marin, Trois Illet, St Pierre.
Dominica.
Guadeloupe Les Saintes, along the coast up towards Pigeon island, then Deshaies. Montserrat.
St Kitts and later
Nevis. Sint Maarten Simpson bay. Spanish
Water Curacao.
Other than the dive snorkelling spot in Anse a cointe (bouyed). I've not been impressed with any of the
anchorages.
None are particularly well protected so you regularly get rough
water as it's usually blowing 20-30knts. Which means it's not nice to swim.
Others are quite frankly nasty looking green water, or loads of tyres and other trash on the bottom.
Where are the super shallow beaches where it's 4m deep or less for 200m out to sea, and super nice turquoise waters? Where it's well protected from
wind, so the water is relatively calm and nice to swim in?
So far, I think the
Med has been much nicer for swimming, and
anchoring and a lot better protection, but I'm guessing all the nice places in the
Caribbean are islands I haven't hit yet. Barbuda, SvG,
Virgin Islands.
Any places you can recommend?
