I’d whole heartedly recommend the ARC to anyone, but especially those on their first crossing. It helped us in so many ways. From briefings, advice, safety requirements to just being in the marina with so many others doing the same thing and comparing plans and strategies.

We blogged as much as we cloud but I expect it will be a couple of months until we catch up to the crossing on our channel. Hopefully it will be worth the wait, it was quite an adventurous 21 days.

Dave and Hayley.

Ps. We did 55 hours motoring in 21 days and 17 hours and came 3rd in our category! Very very pleased!
55 hours motoring (2.5l/h at cruising speed) would be a completely full tank for me. Guess if I cross I'll have to accept being becalmed for a few days, or double my fuel capacity.

in real terms that equates to 2.5 hours a day, which is what any boat without solar panels ,running an auto pilot ,fridge and nav gear would need to charge their batteries in a 24 hr period.

the days of warm beer, hand steering and oil lamps are well and truly over

a big thank you to all those that took the time to post updates

well done for safely making the crossing, and we look forward to your videos.
hopefully they will provide some insight and info for next years atlantic fleet

We also made it safely from Tenerife to Antigua. 17 days exactly and it was a text book crossing. I have to go on another thread soon and apologize for an earlier comment I had made about sailing catamarans DDW - it was amazing. 4 dorado, 2 wahoo, 2 serious rain squalls, about 100 whales, unbelievable dolphin shows, 16.7 knots of boat speed for a nano second before the spinnaker blew out. Repaired with a roll of duct tape and it held for 5 days straight.
