Triple Stars Salvaged

The 38ft yacht, abandoned south of Bermuda 8 months back was found, and towed in by a local charter boat captain.
Boat was 26 miles SW of Bermuda.
Story in today's Royal Gazette local newspaper.

Was this an Island Packet? I think i remember reading about this boat in Cursing World, one of the two people on board was washed off of the boat?

Re: Triple Stars Salvaged

Thanks for sharing, I often wonder about certain boats that were abandoned at sea. There was a Beneteau 393 abandoned NW (?) of Bermuda last year about the same time as Triple Stars, and I'm curious if it ever showed up still afloat somewhere.

Amazing after all the time it was so close to where it was abandoned.

Re: Triple Stars Salvaged

So the charter boat captain can claim salvage rights? It's his if he wants it?

Salvage is not as simple as this. Usually much litigation precedes a final resolution.

Litigation with insurers or owners? I'm assuming the owner filed a claim and so ins. company has an interest. Salvage law is interesting, curious to see how it shakes out. Tragic, really.

I know the charter captain personally. He is a straight-up guy who hold multiple world records, and is not mercenary in any way.
I think this is his 3rd find of this type.

Frank,
Amazingly, they do stay in the Stream eddy for some lengthy periods of time.
The weekly shipping traffic between NY and BDA often report sightings.
