T-Mobile Exuma Coverage: Nassau to Georgetown

Greetings,

Does anyone have knowledge or experience with T-Mobile's Exuma Bahamas coverage and speed? My friends and I will be chartering a sailboat and traveling from Nassau to Georgetown and we're wondering if we need to purchase a local sim card or whether we can rely on T-Mobile for texting and internet service (which I believe has an agreement with BatelCo).

Thanks for any guidance!

A few folks we know say that it works, just not as fast as getting a local Batelco SIM which requires an unlocked GSM phone. Since your only talking a week or two probably stick with T Mobile. Note that around the Land and Sea Park there is little to no reception. Highborne, Normans good, Shroud so so, Hawskbill to Cambridge virtually none (had a friend in Cambridge enable hotspot, put phone in bag and hoisted up mast and it worked lol). South of Compass good, Stanial/Blackpoint/Little Farmers good. Most of Great Exuma good.
Dr SIM is an online company where you can prepurchase a Bahamian SIM. Other option fly to Nassau, if T Mobile works well then stick with it, if not, hit a BTC Office before you head out.
Stanial Cay has a BTC office which can sell you a SIM as well.

While most all U.S. Carriers will work in major cities like Nassau and Freeport. They have no workable service in the outer islands. So don't count on it. Even BTC service is unreliable and spotty all along the Exuma chain. Some spots are better than others and some times the service works and sometimes it doesn't. In George Town, service is fair for BTC. Chuck
