We just got back from a week sailing around Wellfleet and Provincetown, and I always have the same reaction: we get all THIS to ourselves? No one on Great Island, maybe a few people strolling on Long Point. A few transient cruisers and a few motorboat daytrippers. Beautiful harbor waters for swimming and sailing and
fishing. Bluefish and tautog to be had for the taking. Whales to be seen, for free. [We also got to see a big ocean sunfish this year.] . . . Town an easy
dinghy ride away. It's paradise.
We used to take rental vacations on the Cape, and the
money we've saved by boat-vacationing over the last 6 summers has paid for the
boat. Plus we've taken the
boat many other places . . . places we couldn't have afforded to
vacation otherwise --
Maine,
Bahamas, etc.
I always wonder why more people don't do it this way. But . . . no need to tell them now, is there? Don't want to draw a crowd.
