Something for the guys and gals on CF to consider. Women are just as capable of defending themselves as men, if they have the right tools, mindset and training. It's a good feeling for both of us to always know that the other has our back covered. I've seen her in action several times... A true warrior, but you'd never know it when you meet her.

In fact, I don't know anyone within 50 miles that does.....

Ok. Do you feel like your situation is the national norm? And, more to the point, you dodged the question asked. Is that to be considered "barricading yourself in"? Do you think everyone that lives like that is constantly cowering in fear? Or going on with their lives as normal, just with the door locked?

That wasn't the point you made, you said a very absolutist "everyone I know", just slightly exaggerated.....

I don't even lock my door.

Its interesting to self-examine what kind of thinker we are as we engage in this discussion.

I spend way more time arguing basic security with folks like you than I do actually maintaining that security. If we all just did it without talking about or pretending that the world is some kind of idyllic place that it is not, we'd all be better off. Not sure why you are so averse to making even the teensiest effort in the name of security, but to each their own. Clearly it's not that important to you, but some of us have children and families aboard. Why does locking the door have to mean you are "in terror"? That's just a childish attempt to be insulting and demeaning to those who care more about this than you do.

If you thought that wasn't my point, then clearly you missed the point.

Re: St Lucia murder

This thread has clearly outlived its usefulness and is seriously pushing the "be nice rules" to the limit IMHO

Actually, I don't recall anywhere where I said you should never take safety precautions

Re: St Lucia murder

Gentlemen, once again we have pages of bickering and stuff which does no good to the forum, yourselves, or the victims of this. I am going to close it for now and see if it opens again after a review.
