Hello! does anyone know the ins and outs of
Customs rules in
St Lucia? Here is my situation:
we sailed the
boat to Rodney Bay Marina in early Feb. We went back to the US a few days later, planning to return in about 6 weeks, and we told Immigration as much. I noticed at the Rodney Bay marina website after we got back this "
If you plan to leave you boat unattended you must file for Temporary Importation with a Customs Officer and the Marina prior to your departure."
OK, so we didn't do that.. should I be concerned? What does "temporary Importation" entail? I tried searching the
St Lucia websites but came up with nothing. Do I need to fly back to St Lucia ASAP and correct the situation?
Also, there are many personal things we want to bring in luggage when we return (clothes, a piano/keyboard, some audio
equipment, a
sewing machine, laptops, boat supplies, human
food, dog
food, dog, two cats - yes i know, different issues there). Aside from the pet importation process, will we have to declare all of these things with
airport customs and pay duties, or do we just say it's for our boat, or not mention it?
