I'll second that Gord. Thanks Alan - hope we get to touch base once I am down there more or less permanently next year and we can share some 'war stories', a decent meal and a bottle of wine at my expense.

Dear Gord,
A few days ago I admonished my staff that they needed to “close the circle” of tasks delegate to them…I have just been given the following list of senior executives of government agencies concerned with port captains and regulations concerning cruisers from other countries… with the cheeky retort from an overachieving !!!!!!!! “Is the circle now completed”.
My initial thought was to bin them and either sack her or give her a bonus. Then on reflection I felt that it could be useful to the members in CF, who do cruise these areas (Although outside the area covered within the thread) to have the direct contact details of the top man, if they are experiencing difficultly at a local/lower level. If they then raise a thread, you will have the details to pass on, which may help. Even the ability to know the name and be able to state “either we sort this out here or I’ll contact “so and so. Are these still the current number/email etc” , may assist in expediting a solution to the initial problem… If handled properly.
So here they are…..
As a Scot, the thought of a beer from all cruisers to these areas has me salivating.
As she just came in with a self satisfied look, just short of unacceptable behaviour…I may just sack her….
Then I think of the beer….. So I shall give her a bonus.
On a more serious note, perhaps you could request within the CF for members to compile the names and contact details of all those holding these positions globally and as such, disseminate as appropriate when necessary, to alleviate or at least bring higher pressure to bear on any unfair problem being experienced by CF members .
Regards
Alan

We have traveled extensively in Mexico, Central and South America and are generally comfortable with the safety and security in these countries. We have not visited Venezula however and are not sure we read Pres. Chavez's intentions as it concerns tourists. That being said we will continue to solicit input on specific people, places, haulouts, anchorages and warnings. Many thanks to all of you that have taken the time to respond.
