It means making a couple or three significant passages, but it's doable. Turks&Caicos to the Dominican Republic; get a window for the Mona Passage, then on east past Puerto Rico into the British Virgins. From Virgin Gorda, to DesHaies, Guadeloupe. From Guadeloupe to Saint Lucia, then Saint Lucia on to Grenada. This gives you plenty of bailout options, but if the weather plays you would be able to do it in a couple of weeks.
We did this trip from Georgetown, Exumas in 2011, starting late April, arriving Grenada mid June, but we made more stops and lingered some (for fun and for weather). Quite a lot of motorsailing, but it is largely to windward for many of the 1000+ nauticals.

Re: southbound mid june

We are in Gorda Sound now waiting on weather, the way it looks we may still be here when you get here. Looks like strong trades out of SE with chance of squalls through next week. Look us up when you get here.

Re: southbound mid june

We were delayed over 6 weeks in starting our trip "down island" this year by protracted repairs to our mainsail head car (http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...em-102099.html) and are now in Rodney Bay, St. Lucia. We worked our way eastward from Puerto Rico in a series of day hops waiting in Virgin Gorda for a good weather window at least 2 days long. When that window finally opened, we sailed close hauled for two days and reached Dominica. During the next acceptable window, we sailed overnight to Rodney Bay. (We did not skip Guadeloupe and Martinique strictly because they are French - it really was a geography thing.)
