Southbound :)

Headed down the dismal swamp this weekend en route to Beaufort to head offshore to Charleston on our way to the Bahamas.

First big cruise after our trip north from Hilton Head to Annapolis this summer to get to know the boat and work out some of the kinks a 1967 Chris Craft Apache has to offer :-P

Hope to run into some nice folks along the way.

Enjoy the trip! There's a bunch of nice folks out there!

Now that you've worked "out some of the kinks", does that mean you are done being kinky?

Fair Winds,
Mike

We're at Morehead City Yacht Basin until Sunday morning when we head south. Stop by if you happen to come here...

not sure we'll make morehead by Sunday....going to take it easy on the way down (40 - 50 miles per day) but thanks for the offer and thanks for your website

I've found all kinds of anchorages through Active Captain -- good stuff

If you're using ActiveCaptain, the zen of it requires that you write some reviews or else the current will always be against you to Charleston and beyond.

Actually, I can't tell if you wrote any or not - I'm just giving you a hard time.

I like WindFinder.com for checking offshore weather/wind/wave predictions at Frying Pan Shoals. We've done the Beaufort to Charleston run overnight about 6 times. It's a beautiful passage. We've always gone through the Frying Pan Shoals Slue - it'll shave a few miles off in case you hadn't been through there.

Safe passages...
