We are at the North Belle Isle anchorage, it's just as you describe it on Active Captain. We dinghy in to the boat ramp right next to the Police Station, very friendly and helpful. They like the burger place a block in that Chow Hound raves about and there's a brand new Publix two blocks away. Could hear the natives celebrating in the barracks last night, sounded like a tea dance with a disco flavor. I like it here.
How are you liking Bald Island?

I'm assuming you've walked over and along the Lincoln Rd Mall area? Plenty of nice restaurants and shops along there. There's even a movie theatre for a rainy day, etc.

Bald Head Island is quite interesting. It could be warmer...
