San Blas Isla Porvenir

Hi, does anyone know if you are still able to check in at the Isla Porvenir in the San Blas?

I'm coming from Columbia. I think I read somewhere you can know longer checkin there? Maybe I'm wrong.

Thanks.

Re: San Blas Isla Porvenir

As of the end of our last cruising season there (June) you still could not clear in/out anywhere in the San Blas. To my knowledge nothing has changed.

Last time I crossed from Colombia we made landfall at Linton Bay Marina. There is a Port Captain there where you can complete boat papers then go to Portobelo via taxi or bus to complete immigration ($3/person).

A boat crossing at the same time stopped for a few nights in the San Blas without issue, but of course not technically legal.

Note there have been boardings and robberies in Linton Bay, but only in the anchorage not the marina. A ouple in Portobelo too. There have also been two violent attacks/robberies/rapes on sailboats in Nombre de Dios. I would stick to the marina in Linton.

Last summer we found Portobelo to have both customs and immigration available

Thanks guys. Just heard from friends that are currently there that they had a very easy check in including cruising permit at Puerto Obaldia. This is down near Columbia border.

Be sure to visit Zapzurro before crossing into Panama. The good anchorage is far in then to port close to the beach. There’s a reef protecting that area from possible swell coming into the bay.
It was one of the best places we found in Colombia
