Route Planing, Meds to Canary Islands... in winter

Thanks a lot for all the great input. I think we actually have a plan now:

We leave Corsica early October after slapping some new paint on the boat, replacing the anode(s) and some other things we absolutely must do.

We hop the Islands until the Spanish coast (Menorca, Mallorca, Ibiza) and try to get out of the Meds ASAP.

We arrive in Portimao (or probably Lagos right next to it. There seems to be a little bit more going on) and book a birth for a few months, basically setting up for winter.

Then we watch the weather. In case we find a perfect window, we take it. If that doesn't happen by April, we hop on the ferry in Portimao and go down Tenerife, meet the Family, come back and then take the boat in May/June.
