Pros and cons of Cruising the Western Caribbean?

For those of you that have spent significant time cruising the Western Caribbean from the Bay Islands (Roatan), to Cancun, what are the pros and cons? What were your favorite spots, activities, inland adventures? How does the Western Caribbean rate compared to other cruising grounds in terms of returning assuming all the logistics, hassles and costs were equal to return for a visit? High on the list as a place to return to, or low on the list?
