Re: Passage thru Port Hawksbury, Nova Scotia

Hi,

I am thinking after September. Like you say after hurricane season and before winter gale season. This way we can summer in the Maritimes and then winter in the south. I have a 31 Hullmaster Douglas with a full keel. I am getting it ready now fr the trip.

Bloodhound, I just saw your thread. We live in St Peters, about 50km east of Charlottetown on the north shore. Where are you moving to? We have done a lot of cruising around the Northumberland Strait and Cape Breton. Feel free to ask any questions you may have about the area.

Re: Passage thru Port Hawksbury, Nova Scotia

You're in for a nice trip. I've made the trip from Miami/Bahamas to PEI 7 times in the last 15 years. We're presently in Charlottetown so if you want a contact person here, you're welcome to write to me at my username, @gmail.com.
Don't fret about the fog, it's doable without radar if you don't have one. But radar sure made things easier once we got one. Too much to say about the route from Fla to PEI on a Forum. If you have specific questions we'd be glad to help.
Never had AIS, if you sail Texas you know about commercial traffic and how to deal with them. Ais would have been nice, but if you don't have it....

Cheers.
Paul.
