Re: Okeechobee

We have been under that RR bridge. In preparation I measured the mast height by tying a 'tomato stake' in two places to the main halyard tied in a circle and raised stake until my wife at the far end ot the dock with a pair of binoculars said that projected end of the stake was even with the tip of the VHF antenna. I knew the length of the stake. I had tied a 100 ft tape measure to the the bottom of the stake. Doing my sums (stake+tape to boat hook laid across the deck+boat hook to water), I then knew the height of the VHF antenna above the water. A quick look at the internet sites previously mentioned, and I held my breath and motored under the bridge.

Re: Okeechobee

Which keel do you have?

A Cal 33 is stated to have with a deep keel a draft (max): 6.16 ft / 1.88 m but with a Shoal draft: 4.50'.

The Depth of Route 1 [Cross Lake] was listed as 6.75 feet yesterday.

Route 2 is a no go, too shallow.

Need to ascertain your distance from your deck sheerline to the water line to add to your I of 46' and the height of any equipment you may have above the mast.

Re: Okeechobee

So has anyone been through in the last couple of weeks? If so, any problem with the water hyacinths. Plan to be through there west to east next week in a power cat.
