Negril (Jamaica) on the 19th to 25th of May

Is there anyone that plans to be in the Negril area during this time period? If so please get in touch.

Peter, I'll be in Negril but in April not May. We'll be staying at one of the resorts. The last couple of times I was there, there were not too many boats except for the tour boats and a couple of dive boats associated with the resorts. It looked rather exposed to me and I would have been uncomfortable leaving the boat for more than a quick run ashore. I don't recall seeing any cruisers (we were zipping around the anchored boats on a Hobie Cat from the resort).

Jamaica is not a big cruising ground. It's far away from any other island, not a lot of people can afford cruising boats there, there are not a lot of protected areas for anchoring... And the big one is the island is turned the wrong way for sailing with the trade winds. I know a woman with a 40' Jeanneau in Montego Bay. We've been sailing with her a few times, but unless you are lucky, you will mostly motor around. Port Antonio seems to be a regular stop for people cruising to Central America though.
