Re: More Bad News for Caribbean Coral Reefs

The glaciers may be melting but they always have. The problem being is it's not snowing enough to replace what's melting away. We should be looking at why there isn't enough snow.

I had an old friend that lived in Juneau AK most of his life, and he said during a conversation that when he was a kid the snow would get 6' deep almost every year. Then in the 50-60's there was almost nothing. Now for the past 10 years they've been have more snow again.

It hot as hell in the tropics but it still rains like hell too. We just need some Pacific storms like these last ones to build it all back up again.

Climate is not static. We just happen to live in a warm period
in geologic terms. Global warming, and the retreat of the glaciers commenced 18,000 years ago. Long Island, New York, is prime example. More recently, geologically very recent, about 8000 yrs ago, Long Island Sound was a fresh water lake formed by melting glacial ice. Warming caused the sea level to rise 80ft, 25 meters below it's current level, and overflowed into the then Lake Connecticut Basin forming the sound as we now know it.

Re: More Bad News for Caribbean Coral Reefs

I’m alright Jack!
It won’t happen in my lifetime. (Such a pity there’s no sarcasm smiley.)

The bigger pity is that conservation appears to be a “thoughtcrime” now.
I personally find it absurd that, with all the problems the planet faces,
“Greenies” seem to be some people’s biggest nightmare!

And here’s me believing that America’s greatest gift to the world has been the concept of national parks.

Pulling the planet back from the brink is not inconsistent with mankind’s prosperity.
One thing is for sure and that is the current pollution problems will not be rectified by letting the “market” decide the planet’s fate (or the “shock jocks” either for that matter.)

Your fiberglass boat and synthetic sails are more than a thought crime. When they come for your boat whether because you don't "need" it to be a responsible green citizen, or to dispose of it because of it's eternal blight on the ocean, you will sing a different tune. Till then you can dwell on the hypocrisy.
Just sayin' Lucky for you, for now, the market rules.

Actually according to the Milankovitch Cycles and solar activity we should be in a cooling cycle.

So, what's the alternative, to fight thru the tree huggers to build wooden boats with cotton/silk sails? We're surrounded by environmentalist in a push and shove contest. The biggest problem is over population. IMHO Ask China!

Definitely overpopulation.

Not sure anyone wants to tackle that important issue. World population is only going one way.

Or over consumption. Ask yourself.

We know that the one of the highest correlations between fecundity and anything is the education level of the mother. So ....

Your graph shows us on warming cycle. That is what a positive anomaly represents.
