Are there mooring fields near the Jacksonville Inlet?

I've anchored several places inside the pass but no designated anchor areas. One likely spot is west of the ferry launch on the north side of the river. Right west of the launch you can dinghy ashore to a convenience store or bar/restaurant. If you go south on intracoastal to atlantic avenue bridge there is a deep finger that shoots off to the east just before the bridge. There are some private mooring balls there that are most often empty. Toward atlantic beach provisions abound, propane, hardware and groceries available. Lock dinghy or have someone drop shore party off.if you wanted to go all the way to jax they have 2 locations with free 3day slips. One at riverwalk and one at jaguars stadium.

Don't know of any actual mooring fields until you get south down the ICW to St Augustine or north up the ICW to Fernandina. Plenty of marinas and places to anchor.

Not much at the mouth of the St. Johns River. There is a very good anchorage north of the river on the ICW at the Ft. George River. Just go north through the Sister's Creek Bridge (opening bridge) and along the ICW for a few miles. If you're heading south and looking for a spot to shelter, St. Mary's Inlet is a much better stop. Anchorages nearby or you can go into Fernandina Beach.
