Hi,
A crew of two are looking for
advice for the fastest way to get to
Panama. We are departing in our 34' sailboat early April and will be flying back in early may.
Going via the Old Bahama Channel one has to deal with a .3 kt counter
current and the
wind pilot suggest we would be close-hauled all the way to the Windward
Passage. Once there it looks like the
wind will be on our beam, or even aft. I also imagine a lot of
commercial traffic on that
route.
Going through the
Bahamas is appealing because one can
anchor, but it will take longer. I'd love to take a couple of months to get to Inagua Island, but don't have the time. If one had favorable
weather and used most of the daylight hours, how long would it take to get to Inagua,
anchoring each night?
