Mateo to Ocracoke via Old House Channel

Planning on a trip to Cape Lookout (NC outer banks) this spring. Was looking at chart and saw channel from Manteo to Ocracoke via Old House Channel. Boat has 63.5’ air draft and 6’ water draft. Is this possible? Would it be too nerve wracking to try to navigate this with 3-4 other boats? Thanks for any thoughts.

It isn't hard to get thru. The channel is pretty well marked because it is used by the fishing fleet out of Wanchese, however, it moves around a lot. They do a good job of keeping the markers current. I can't speak to the air draft. I am in a powerboat. Nerve wracking? Well, isn't that always the case?

I have taken that channel once or twice. Pretty well marked. There was one thin spot where a shoal was developing. The harbor master at Manteo knew the problem areas and was very helpful. The bottom is all sand. So, soft groundings if things do go wrong.
