Re: Marsh harbor 2 exumas at night

I'll add another vote to what LeaseOnLife said.

When I left the Exumas via the Flemming Channel, there were many coral heads. I personally didn't see any that were shallower than 5 ft MLW, but I still wouldn't want to chance it at night, especially with any swell.

If you are in a hurry and want to night sail, arrive there at first light with plenty of time to get to one of the Exumas that evening.

Yep, LeaseonLife has it nailed.
I was just about to write up that idea when I saw he has beaten me to it.

That 90 miler to get to e beginning of Flemming channel is a great one to do as an overnighter.
The New Providence Channel has a couple of ships slicing through it all the time and many find it easier to sail at night accross shipping lanes, especially if you have AIS.

Part of cruising is doing the exciting bits when you can see them, and the boring bits when it doesn't matter. The deep water is a good night passage, but those clear shallow waters of the Banks are wonderful to do in the day when you can see the colours, see the coral, see the fish, etc etc.

Have a great trip!

I would (and have) two step it, Eleuthera, then Exumas, you can enter the bank at SW Reef waypt at night, anchor in the lee of Meeks, then continue south at first light, arrive northern exumas by sundown.
