I did that trip in 1980 in a
Macgregor 25. I left in the afternoon to clear the reef and arrived in the daylight. Dodging freighters and thunderstorms all night and using a direction finder we ended up at Cat Cay, eight miles south. Not bad for guess and by golly
navigation. Really loved Bimini but we had to hangout for the tide to change to get into the harbor. A bit too much
current for our wee
boat. We spent two weeks there before trying to cross the bank which was aborted by
hurricane Allen. Three days later we back at Bimini, a great place for snorkling.
