Looking for Group Making Passage to US / BVI in Early November

I am looking to make contact with anyone in a group of boats making a passage to the US or British Islands in early November. I am currently single handing down the east coast and would be flexible as to a point of departure. I am sailing a 36' Cheoy Lee Luders ketch. I would also be interested in talking with anyone who might be interested in making the crossing as a mate.
Drop me a line if you are in a group making the crossing or if you'd be interested in making the trip.

Do you know about the Caribbean 1500?

The 1500 is expensive. There's a free rally leaving from Hampton on November 1. The SaltyDog Rally. BlueWater Sailing magazine is sponsoring it and paying for Chris Parker weather. If you can't find contact info, I will send it tomorrow when I'm home from the boat show.

Carib1500 will not take solo sailors. In addition it is owned now by ARC team, so it is getting more and more structured. Likely best option is to find a few like minded sailors in one of the departure harbors, Hampton/Norfolk, Bermuda, Beaufort/NC, etc. People are getting ready and are often close to these harbors now. Good luck.

I'll be heading down from Annapolis in mid-November, after the 1500

There are always a number of boats who hang around Hampton Roads and leave at the same time as the Carib1500, even though they don't sign up. They hope to listen in to the morning and evening weather briefings, if they can figure out the times and freqs.

Carib 1500 wont take solo sailors but they will provide a list of experienced crew if you want someone to go with you. Kind of nice to have somebody else to stand watch on a 10 day passage

Re: Looking for Group Making Passage to US / BVI in Early November

Hi Zanshin, I'm currently in Cape May and am planning to go thru the C&D Canal soon. My plan is to head for Annapolis to have someone take a look at my depth sounder. Maybe we can get together. Are you going solo or do you have a crew? I'm solo and wouldn't mind picking up someone who wanted the ride and the adventure. My e-mail is novusdude1@earthlink.net. Phone is 207-415-2466. My wireless connections have been sketchey at best on the water so the phone might be better. Hope tohear from you. Steve

Hello dingfixer,

there are a lot of bots out there that scrape the forums for e-mail addresses, so it might be a good idea to modify your mail address, i.e. using 'dot' or 'at' instead of the symbols or something similar - unless you like getting spam

I have crew for this voyage and we will be heading out and down to the BVI or St. Martin in one shot from Annapolis or perhaps one overnight around Norfolk (depending upon the rules for anchoring after clearing out of the U.S.).
