Limping in to South-East Florida -- Need Repair Marina

We are limping into SE Florida from the Bahamas, need a basic (less expensive) marina to tie up for 24-48 hours to repair electrical problems, buy a portable generator, and take on fuel and water.



Last December we couldn't get a berth anywhere -- does anyone have any suggestions?


Marina names and phones numbers if you have them, please. Should arrive Tuesday, 7 July.

There arent any cheap marinas in South Florida - only less expensive - I would think Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove might have room - but be careful in Dade county right now - everything is bordering on shutting down again - I would go further north to Ft Pierce area - Ft Pierce Municipal Marina - Harbortown Marina

Ft Pierce or Vero. Vero is better in my opinion, a mooring though not a slip, but much less money.
Buy a Honda from Mayberry’s. Not a fan of NJ people really, but these guys are nice and will deliver in a couple of days and I doubt you will beat their price.

Vero normally has a city bus that runs like every hour and is free, but I’m not sure now.

Call first before you go anywhere, the truth may change overnight.

Easy to come in at Lake Worth Inlet (Palm Beach) Good anchorage north side of inlet, or get slip at City Riviera Beach marina. City bus runs up and down US Hwy 1 every half hour, easy to get anywhere in West Palm for supplies.

Keeping To South Florida.

West Palm Beach is easyinlet with several marina choices or anchorages. You can land dinghy at free docks downtown or at Palm Beach Sailing Club or at docks at Phil Foster State Park. . Lots of places for supplies.

Not sure what you consider inexpensive, but dockage in Ft Lauderdale downtown along the river is not too bad and another big inlet.

Finally, Hillsboro inlet isn’t bad either. We lived there the last 7 years And were in/out all the time and just started cruising. There is lettuce lake to the south of the inlet that you can anchor at. That’s Pompano Beach area. Also, lots of folks in Lighthouse Point and Pompano will rent their docks. Take a look online - search dock rentals in those areas and you may find something. the two marinas in Lighthouse Point are nice but pricey. Good luck.

Harbortown marina in Fort Pierce is a great place. The marina has nice amenities and repair facilities if needed. Harbortown is my home port, nice people both staff and boaters.

About this time of year a few years ago I was planing on anchoring near the city marina in Ft Lauderdale and trying to get a day Dock to go into town for some business as I assumed their price would be astronomical, I called about a day dock and it was cheap and found out that slips were inexpensive, so I got one, when I went in to ask I was told that middle of Summer rates are cheap but in winter they are insane.

A $1000 a month for a mooring?!!? Do you get knocked on the head and thrown into an alley to get the full mugging experience? Or at least a tshirt that says "My Wallet Was Molested In Stuart and I Got This TShirt".

If all else fails check out Apex Marine in Stuart, ask for Sherry and tell her Bacchus recommended them. It is a working marina, not a Fou Fou marina. They have a bathroom with shower and a dumpster for your trash. No pool, no bar and no restaurant although there are several within walking distance. Oh, and no floating docks. But you can do your own repairs and Uber is available.

We stayed there once, it’s nice, but as you say it’s way over the top price wise, but people line up to give them money, so what can you say.
At the time I believe my slip rent was $300 a month in Panama City.
The reviews all say how nice it is on AC and don’t complain about the price.
All I can say is welcome to S Fl, except Stuart really isn’t S Fl, not really, the water is beyond nasty as far as growth and clarity and don’t get me started about that inlet, but it is typical S Fl from the way the Power boaters act.
