Key West Charter

I have a week long charter out of Stock Island on a Lagoon 52 coming up. It's a first to this destination for myself and the client. The client would like to be back at the marina every night so I'm looking for good day trips. Places to swim, snorkel, hike, kayak or bike are all of interest.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

TIA!

Re: Key West Charter

Your client is going to have a boring trip day sailing out of Stock Island....... There are places to explore from Stock Island in your tender though. Will the client be happy sailing to nowhere and back everyday? How many times will they enjoy a sunset cruise: 4, 5 times?

You will need a car or scooter to get to places to hike or bike, the same if you plan on eating takeout from anywhere but the Perry Hotel. Or going to the supermarket to get food to cook and eat at home. The Perry Hotel is at least 5 miles from Duval St and more than a couple of miles from the public beach.

Don’t forget the 10pm curfew on New Years Eve: no party on Duval this year. Sorry to be so negative, but your client would be better advised to rent a house for a week and take the cat out a couple times as an hourly rental. You could also rent Gen Patton’s wooden schooner for a Sunset Cruise as a change.

Woman key to the east, mud flats to the northwest.
Agree with Woodland Hills about waste of time. Return to marina at west of Duval instead of all the way back to Stock island

Re: Key West Charter

I am also considering a Dream Yachts Charter bareboat (powercat) out of Stock Island.

New to the Keys so we are also considering heading out to the reef for the day, then returning to various marinas/anchorages at night. Like to get off the boat for dinner/drinks instead of cooking all meals on the boat. This is what we do in the BVI but I'm wondering if this style of sailing makes sense in the Keys. We sailed the Exumas and we essentially stayed on the boat every night (except one) as most of the islands we visited were deserted. That was not our cup of tea.

Is your concern with sailing back to this particular marina each night, or with the idea of spending nights "on shore". Obviously, if we sail west from Key West there is less commercialization.

Really don't have a clue as of yet so any advice or help is appreciated. Love to get a suggested itinerary. Thanks!
