Jolly Harbour Antigua

Hello -

I have a friend who is due to arrive off Jolly Harbour, Antigua in the dark tonight, on passage from Bermuda in his Hunter 41. He has asked me (via InReach) if I know of any reason why he should stand off and wait to enter until daylight.

It's been a long time since I entered Jolly Harbour, and the place is I'm sure a bit different after the recent hurricane years...

any local wisdom I can pass on to him? And, if he's looking to anchor for a few days, is there a preferred spot?

thanks in advance-

Re: Jolly Harbour Antigua

Anchorage can be had between Pearns and Reeds points at the entrance marker to Jolly Harbour Marina.

Re: Jolly Harbour Antigua

As Gordan has shown, anchoring to either side of channel which is not deep.( we found left side easier) . It's very protected from normal wind. Then in the morning just dinghy in and check in. Checked in twice last year.
