Question Itinerary for Antigua to St Maarten

Four of us leave shortly to pick up a charter yacht from Jolly Harbour, Antigua on 29 June and to sail to Cole Bay, St Maarten by 17 July. That is 18 days.

Whilst we are confident with our sailing having done many charters mainly through the pacific we have absolutely no idea what or where we should go, what bays to stay in etc.

We would be very grateful if someone out there who has some local knowledge of this area was minded to give us some direction or route including stopovers and bays to visit.

Four lost kiwi's

Re: Itinerary for Antigua to St Maarten

Many possible itineraries but I suggest not skipping Nevis. Wonderful place, one of my favorite islands in the Carib. Others like Saba which has a nice charm.

18 days is a long time for a trip that can be done in a day

Jolly Harbour -> Five Islands
Five Islands -> Green Island
Green Island -> Falmouth Harbour (clear out of Antigua)
Falmouth -> Deshaies, Guadeloupe (clear in to Guadeloupe)
Deshaies -> Pigeon Island
Pigeon Island -> Ile des Saintes (clear out of Guadeloupe)
Iles des Saintes -> Little Bay, Montserrat (clear in & out of Montserrat)
Montserrat -> Charlestown (Clear into St. Kitts & Nevis)
Charlestown -> White Bay
White Bay -> Basseterre (clear out of St. Kitts & Nevis)
Basseterre -> Oranjestad, St. Eustatius (clear in and out of Sint Eustatius (Statia))
[Oranjestad -> Saba (clear in and out of Saba) ] Optional if conditions are settled
Oranjestad -> St. Barths (clear in & out at Gustavia)
Gustavia -> Anse Colombier
Anse Colombier -> Ile Fourchue
Ile Fourchue -> Anse Marcel (Clear in to French St. Martin)
Anse Marcel -> Ile Tintamarre
Ile Tintamarre -> Grand Case
Grand Case (clearing out at Anse Marcel) -> Road Bay, Anguilla (clear in and out)
Road Bay -> Simpson Bay (clear in to Dutch St. Martin) [this is also Cole Bay]

That should give you some food for thought and some good sailing and several countries to visit for an 18 day charter. I've been to all of those places except Anguilla, which I've never popped over to, and you can find a lot of comments and pictures on my website if you are interested.

Falmouth -> Charlestown, Nevis (clear in to St. Kitts and Nevis

A pretty good choice, but a bit too busy for my taste. There is also a likely need to factor in a couple of lost days for ongoing repairs or nursing hangovers etc. By the way they will have nearly completed their trip by now.

Re: Itinerary for Antigua to St Maarten

LOL - I missed the posting date, I thought it was a recent thread.

I gave them the "full Monty" trip itinerary so that they could choose which segments to skip; but think that with 18 days they should head at least one island south to Guadeloupe.

I hope they come back and report what their actual itinerary was...
