I guess you've never been in some caribbean's islands where since 20 years the racism increases with no limit. So I maintained what I said, it is better being a lonely dog on a boat than a white man in a black people jail in a country so small that you surely have some cousin of the 'victim' in this prison...

It stinks being a minority in the carribean when the economics have made it more problomatic for the local populas to exist at a "comfortable level",Even poor cruisers would be a tempting target for a disgrutuled local islander that has no form or hopeful means to achive upward and outward mobility,but has racist views increased in the carribean in the last 20yrs toward white folks? I dont think so, as I have noticed that more and more folks of different ethnic backgrounds are coexisting and mixing their blood more than I had ever seen in the past...I have noticed this in Jamaica only as I have not been to any other islands since the 1990s...

I didn't say that racism has increased in the Caribbean, I said in SOME Caribbean Islands ! I don't know about Jamaica, but what you say about it, I see the same here in Trinidad where mixing is quite usual. The "some" islands where racism toward white people increase in my opinion are Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent, and I know that by experience and by talking frankly with locals. In Tobago, people start to be more mistrustful with foreigners too.
I try not to generalize, because racism and violence are often the result of a "legal"(approved by governement) injustice between different ethnic groups.

Tropicalescape I completely agree with you. Racism is not the cause. After living in the Caribbean for 18 years I have never felt any black white racism.

The problem is of course due to inequity. Very rich people live next to very poor. Everywhere this exists crime is a problem.

In this particular case though I d not think this is a cause. The thief was a thief and dug pusher all his life. Most Lucians are not. They are honest and work at what they can for a living.

Meanwhile the PM rides in a Rolls and lives like a king. The law is managed by a few in a fashion they decide is adequate.

Is Eric in prison because he is French? It might be but I do no believe it is.

Still I think participants in the coming ARC should be aware of this situation as should all sailors in this part of the world.

I suggest we stop trying to figure out how to deal with the thief in the night and instead start trying to figure out how to deal with the angry lover in the night. It is not clear to me the vic was there to steal, rather to do what ever someone does when there female companion seems to be engaged in sexual congress with someone else. The two situations are completely different.

Since we are making stuff up on rumors and all, how about this.

There was no blunt trauma on the boat and he made it to the beach fine but really worn out. Long swim and all. Someone whom he had screwed in the past (could be the chick from the boat, being a better swimmer) happened to notice his weakened condition and gave him the blunt trauma and left. Then he died. Seems pretty logical to me.

Considering all the CIA agents of this forum investigating in the name of truth, of course everything based on their perfect knowledges of the place of the crime, the victim, the suspect and the dog. Your version of the story makes no sense because the the French guy was not considered as a rapist practising kung **, the lady is not a trustworthy loving spouse and the victim is not a lovely citizen from saint lucia organizing a birthday surprise for the French men.

And if the dog was the brain of this whole conspiration ...

For the gun and "I'll shoot anyone who steps foot on my boat" people what do you think would happen to you based on this story? How about the sword and knife people? Or the booby trap the hatchway so they trip and break their necks people?

This poor guy (if really innocent) would have been way better off if he had just let the low life SOB steal whatever he was after.

I have never seen the attraction to another mans wife when there are so many girls out there that are not married and therefore dont carry around a lot of "Infadeles maratise"(I made that word up!?has that latin ring to it ,dont you think?)type problems..
