Of course the term has come to imply other things, but it would be better to be explicit about those things than to use such a term so loosely.
Yea, like "assault weapon".

Your comment kinda fits in nicely with my next point .

Not only may "you" one day find yourself in similar legal doodah as Eric when abroad (whether rightly or wrongly) - but may also find yerself being judged by yer own digital footprint (by fellow cruisers deciding whether you "deserve" any help. and possibly even by the authorities deciding on your character).

My real name is Phil .

Phil,

We can all post a thumb up or down and solve it quickly.

No need for facts.

Like the term "3rd world". No real definition. Vague. Etc.

Now back to St. Lucia and the lack of information...................

200+ posts about a subject that we don't even have any details about. I will admit that I was curious and Goggled it. But that gets you this thread, in other words the info isn't even out there to be "discussing"!
Feel free to find a more useful thread for yourself.

Re: In Prison in St Lucia

Funnily enough, how you present, usually has a bearing on your activities.
Dreads, a mini freighter and a swash buckling demeanour, backs up the suggestion
"there might be more to this than meets the eye". Even if it is only that the local constabulary don't like the look of you & a situ developed. Live on the edge; Then expect to slip over it now & again.
Lack of info? Maybe because the details ain't helpful.
The best of luck to you Eric, if you deserve it.

Re: In Prison in St Lucia

WOW ! I'm amazed that some folks here are condemning this man based on his "look". Making drug comments etc. after viewing the video posted earlier. THATS some real slimey **** as far as I'm concerned !

Re: In Prison in St Lucia

We haven't condemmed the man. We simply made an observation and left the conclusion open. If you don't think your appearance affects the way you are treated then you live in another world.

To a smaller point.. If this sailor was released tomorrow..what kind of shape do you think his boat is in? I bet it has been stripped to the bone

Re: In Prison in St Lucia

Does anyone have anything pointing to the fact that he is guilty? If not then he can only be presumed to be innocent regardless of his appearance

Re: In Prison in St Lucia

My only observation based on the video is that it is highly unlikely that he was boarded with the intent of theft. Why were three guys on his boat in the middle of the night, I don't know, but would guess it wasn't to steal his macbook or camera.
