Hurricanes are rare in Maine, although of course that is changing with climate.
The problem is not only
wind, but storm surge. By far the safest place to be is high and dry. Most
marinas have the ability to haul and store
boats, but of course regular customers and members come first. There's usually plenty of warning that a
hurricane is coming, so start planning and calling around early. Not sure I'd want to ride out a hurricane in the
water along the rocky coast of Maine.
That said, there are a number of rivers which go pretty far inland. Get far enough up and both the surge and the winds are likely to be much less.
