Grenada to St. Lucia

Ahoy Sailors,

Apologies if any of the questions were previously discussed elsewhere, my search attempts did not reveal what I am looking for.

I am planning a charter trip to Grenada in February and I had hoped to get some insights from more experienced sailors:

1. I can't make up my mind if I should start from Grenada and sail my way up to St. Lucia or Start in Martinique/St. Lucia. I have 7 days.
2. Is it too windy at the end of February to sail in the Caribbean?
3. If you have a good 7-day itinerary from Grenada, that you have sailed in the past, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you so much.
Sincerely,
Shizamii

It is approximately 100nm (straight line) from Grenada to St. Lucia (plus a bunch more from Georgetown to Rodney Bay). If you only have a week, then you will spend two of those days in transit (one day north, one day south). Of course you will on the way pass the Grenadines that are worth a visit as is Union Island etc.

Be aware that February is the (statistically) windiest month. Winds will generally be from the east and northeast, so the chances are good you will be sailing upwind (not good). Frequent gales, although if you are an experienced sailor these should not bother you too much.

were it me, I would sail north - south, not south - north. But the trip is doable

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Sailing north is harder. I would look at doing Grenada Cariacou and part of the Grenadines. & days is quickly gone by.
Even sailing south from Martinique, 7 days is not long enough.

Thank you everyone for your response. After considering your suggestions, we are thinking about starting in Martinique and sailing down to St. Lucia and maybe part of the grenadines. Any thoughts and suggestions on this route?

Check flights. Covid situation, civil unrest in Martinique, and covid entry protocols for St-Lucian and Grenadines.

These will bite a big chunk of your time.
Routes are pretty straightforward. Cruising guides like Doyle do detail them.
Your charter company will also give you up to date advice.
