How far can you see?

Sara Palin said she can see Russia from her back porch, well I can see the BBQ at GKM from mine.

Thanks for all the great advice. Since this is literally our first week on a boat, we at mooring at Boot Key. It was close to where we purchased the boat, and since we motored it off at 5pm we didn't have many options for other areas at that point. So far, we like Boot Key. Friendly people, nice accommodations. We rented for the month; I imagine we'll be venturing out to look for new places once our rent is over. Some of the areas mentioned in KW sounds really tempting. If anyone is over in Boot Key, stop in and say hi! Wave Dancer - D13!

Cheers!

Hey Janae - I see you got your boat and are just up the way in Marathon - SWEET! The winds look good tomorrow, and there are moorings available at Garrison Bight, or you can start practicing anchoring west of Key West off of Wisteria Island and use the dinghy dock at whatever marina is over there - ask capngeo. Tomorrow night we are going to see the Doerfels play at the Schooner Bar - meet us there!

Hi capngeo! You are in the city marina? We paid for a mooring in Garrison Bight until Sunday so we could see the Doerfels play at the Schooner Bar tomorrow night - a pelican told me that Janae may also be there, wanna go?

Marathon

Marathon was good enough for us to write a song about it:

Marathon | Tennis

One of the most protected anchorages we visited in 9 months of cruising.

I have some friends who hired someone to drop a mooring ball around Key West for them. It worked great, because they owned it, afterward, and rented it out.

I lived aboard in BKH pre-mooring ball years. A lot of derelict vessels then, but has since been cleaned up. There was at one time a bus that ran to Key West from Marathon for around $5 or there abouts, great deal if it still runs.

Did I miss the show??

It looks like the band has already come and gone?

I'm still in Marathon as it is: so I'm not sure I would have been able to make it to the bar.

However, I was thinking about heading to see the Barnacles playing. Someone had informed me that they were pretty good, and they're playing the Saturday at a local bar in Marathon, Chikitiki.

Anyone who is able to on my by, I'd love to meet you!
