FYI: Stuart / St. Lucie inlet Depths

The inlet into St Lucie Stuart looks scary on charts (shows 6'max depths). We went out recently and it held minimum 12' for anyone who may be interested. Depths dropped off quickly to 20' right outside Jetty.

I passed the inlet a few weeks ago and there was a dredge in the ICW just south of the inlet. I suspect it has corrected some of the reported problems. We had good water all the way through, though it was a little skinny approaching the inlet from the north.

Like many other inlets on the East coast of Florida (St Augustine, Daytona, for example), it is unstable and reqire frquent maintenance. Get local and recent information before going in; followa local if you can.

That's kinda hard to come by sometime (local info). I guess that was what I was giving. We also transited the pass out of doboy sound. It wasn't as good concerning depths but held 7'. On that one we requested local info on 16 but none came forth.
