Europe to West Indies - January?

I've been told December is best, but I cannot make it by then. Is January too late to take a 35-40 footer this route?

Junuary is excellent I think. Tradewinds have stabilized. We'll go January 2011.

You're going January 2010 or 2011? 2010 would mean winter through the med... Ewwww

2010. Dec through Med.. I know... Ive sailed around East Med in quite severe conditions in winter before. Waves high and short enough that we constantly were constantly submerging the bow of the boat.... The closeness of the waves really sucked, but once you get out of the natural harbour in Cyprus, the island "stacks" all the waves against you past Akriotiri....

I'm assuming central and west med cannot be any worse? Just rough..... or is it different in central and west med?

Not sure, I've only sailed the med during early summer. Just keep in mind that you have lots of low pressures coming in from the atlantic during this tome of year. Most probably take a more northerly route though.
