Dry Tortugas anchorage

Thinking of heading to Dry Tortugas for a few days and just wanted to get yíallís opinion of the anchorage there by the fort. Doesnít look like a whole lot of protection. Just curious how bumpy it gets or if there is much surge ( we hate rolling ) We are on a 50í mono and do have a couple of Magma stabilizers that help a lot. Watched some YouTube vids and talked to a few friends who have been there just not sure of what to expect. Itís a long way and not sure if itís worth the trip if the anchorage uncomfortable. Anyway as always thanks in advance for any feedback.

Money can't buy happiness, but you can buy a boat and it's pretty much the same thing......

Re: Dry Tortugas anchorage

It is definitely worth the trip. There are several anchorages there. In fact, you can anchor anywhere within a 1 mile radius from Fort Jefferson. When we were there last March, most recreational boats were anchored on the SE side of the fort. We had excellent protection. A bunch of commercial fishing boats were anchored on the West side of the fort. The winds were from NE.
