Divide Up 'Atlantic & the Caribbean' Forum ?
I've always wondered why this forum topic covers such a HUGE geographic area. It's really less about square miles and more that it has so many different cruising destinations and popular cruising grounds, that it really should be split up into more specific topics. It's odd to me that destinations like Oriental, NC are in the same forum sub-category as St. Lucia and the Exumas.
It would make more sense to me that it be divided up into this:
Atlantic, USA East Coast & ICW
Bahamas
Caribbean
Anyone else have any input?

agreed. I wouldn't separate Bahamas and Caribbean. And I'm not sure where the South Atlantic belongs. But clearly, in my opinion, the Caribbean should be separated from the rest of the North Atlantic. pete

Yea, the argument could be made to keep the Bahamas and Caribbean together, but some kind of division really should be in order. Especially to break out the Eastern US seaboard/ICW cruisers away from the islands.
We plan on staying in the ditch for several more years and would love to chat about stops we might make along the way and the sights we see (or could see). Then, when we decide to go all-in and hit the islands, a dedicated place for island-only topics would be a fabulous tool to goto for extensive research on ONLY that area(s).
Not sure how busy a Southern Atlantic forum might be, so I won't speak to that. We'll leave that to people that might need it.

Any action that might happen on this will not be quick. There is some planning that has to take place and it has to get put into the project queue as well.

Re: Divide Up 'Atlantic & the Caribbean' Forum ?
Does it really make a difference? All current headings/areas are pretty large and one can always (should always?) start up threads that are more location-specific. In the final analysis, it may make things more difficult - e.g., while we all know that the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos are in the Atlantic, some (erroneously) think of the both as being in the Caribbean.
I understand the motivation for the suggestion, but it strikes me that so long as people take a small amount of care on the headings for each new thread, it is quite workable as is.

Re: Divide Up 'Atlantic & the Caribbean' Forum ?
It makes sense to split it into two separate sub-forums. I wonder why it was not done so initially?
At the same time, it's easier for me to check one forum for both of my current favorite locations.

Re: Divide Up 'Atlantic & the Caribbean' Forum ?
You could lump florida in with bahamas, since many of the discussions center around going to/from.
