Deltaville, VA Rocks

We came to Deltaville, VA on the tip of another cruiser and are surprised it is not talked about more.

It's a town of 1000 on the Chesapeake with about a dozen boatyards, a big West Marine, several canvas shops and sailmakers, boat supply consignment store. Must be one of the boatiest small towns we have stopped in so far. Great place to get some work done on the boat. Prices are reasonable and the town goes out of its way to accommodate boaters.

We are on the hard at Chesapeake Boat Works (Fisherman's Bay). Good people. As the manager says "We sell work.".

I'm probably moving my boat down in a few weeks for a month or so on the hard for a buncha stuff. Maybe you'll still be there when I arrive.

Don't spend too much time on the hard, you got friends to meet back up with in Annapolis!

I agree. Deltaville is a great place. We are also in Chesapeake Boat Works, but wont be back up till the 27th. Would have liked to meet you.
Chesapeake Boat Works is a great DYI yard ( and I have not affiliation to them except I am there ;-) ).

+1. Sorry I missed you.

They have are flexible too. For example, I am doing the prep work under their direction and they are spraying the boat. Since the prep work is most of the cost (labor) I am able to get a pretty professional paint job at a fraction of the normal cost.

Like mjf55, I'm just a happy customer. No affiliation.

Re: Deltaville, VA Rocks

Yup, Deltaville has a West Marine at Herrington Harbor North, plenty of marinas and contractors, but you better have a car cuz you're in the middle of nowhere. We're hoping to get out of nowheresville very soon.
