Debris in the Chesapeake Bay

Liberty is planning to sail south Saturday morning, Nov 5, for an overnight sail to Hampton. In several short trips between Annapolis and the Magothy, we've seen (and mostly avoided, other than a couple of minor bumps) a lot of floating debris and flotsam, including big pieces of wood with obviously visible nails and other sharp pointy things.

If we see much during the day Saturday we will stop at Solomons for the night.

Query: has anyone gone south in the bay in the last few days who can comment on how much debris is still floating that needs to be dodged?

Thanks much,
Liberty

Re: Debris in the Chesapeake Bay

I'm a few weeks ahead of you but on my way down I found the bay relatively clear. The few logs around were being reported by fellow cruisers and the CG.

Re: Debris in the Chesapeake Bay

Any time you get lots of rain, you will get lots of debris. the Susquehanna is known for it.
