Re: Cuba ?

the parrelells are there ,communism is long dead in the east west divide.
so far northen cyprus and the south have opened thier borders.
the berlin wall no longer exists as does east germany.
gaza and isreal co-exist.
northen ireland and eire are best mates thse days

blockading a country only perpetuates a problem, the cold war is over.

better concentrate domestic policy on places like iran and korea, some times diplomacy and reconcilliation can achieve far more than any offensive policy, that only perpetuates a problem.
plus if all the miami cubans went back, where would you get a decent meal in miami????

You mean "ruthless killer", the same as there are on each side of every armed conflict incl. US civil war etc.? But that would, in the end, eliminate everybody from being respected

Also, foreign communist government support... you mean just like the democratic US support to overthrow democratically elected presidents in foreign countries? (like Guatemala, 1954)

I bet the mods will explain that these discussions never go very well.... so I advice you to let that anger out on some political forum where respect is, by definition, missing.

ciao!
Nick.

Re: Cuba ?

A small point for the sake of accuracy: US preclearance stations in the Caribbean (and other non-US locations) are not operated by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). They are operated by CBP (Customs and Border Protection), a separate part of the US Department of Homeland Security. See Preclearance Locations - CBP.gov

I think you may be thinking of the Dominican Republic .....the only non-Castro part of Cuba is Guantanomo (sp!) bay.
Then indeed they are better off then "the other half" LOL

That's a no brainer. Look at all the people who actually respect Bush/Cheney. Go figure.

Another reason for the embargo that remains under the radar, is the south Florida sugar industry. By embargoeing trade with Cuba, and enforceing it on our allies to some extent, it keeps sugar prices artificially higher, than they would be if free trade were allowed. The sugar industry is probably more powerful than a small bloc of Miami voters, but they manage to remain in the shadows.
