Cruising from Maine to Portsmouth, VA

HI,

Seeking suggestions from those with local knowledge. Sailing our 46ft (6.3 draft)Najad from Maine to meet ARC 1500. Would like to anchor or moor when possible - Seems much of NJ is pretty shallow. Welcome suggestions for places to stop. Have folks done this as a passage (from where to where?) or as day sails. Thanks!!

How do you like your Najad?? We have a Hans christian 33 but wanting a bigger boat so we are looking at the 40 or the 405

Are these good boats? How do they sail?

hi Andy,

we love our Najad - (460)
It's a heavy displacement boat - so needs a stiff wind to move fast. It is very easy to sail, well built, and will be ideal for long live aboard stints. It is reasonably responsive - but not like the Baltic we sailed until recently.
The 405 is similar - We chose the Najad for several reasons - more user friendly than the Baltic, a bit flatter (good as we are getting older), well equipped for our southern adventure.

Thank you for your quick relply! We are looking hard at a 40 and a 405.
Trust me I know about heavy cruiser boats, we have a Hans christian that weights about 28,000 lbs before we even load her up lol

but the boat is stable and has nice lines!
