Crossing the Gulf Stream

Planning on crossing from Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday August 1st...depending of course on the Weather Window...any advice for us? Our seacat is 22ft, with twin 115's. Thanks

Yes. Have fun...

As long as you go when the weather is right, and don't set a course directly for your destination, you'll have a great trip!

Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs. Don't underestimate the fuel you'll need. Work it out, add a bit more, sleep on it and add a bit more just to be safe

P,

going over is usually not the problem...especially in a fast boat...coming back to fla in mid-summer can be problematical unless you get back to fla in the a.m.---before the afternoon storms hit (and they will--almost every day in s. fla)...we crossed the gulf stream 3 times in 24 hrs once after leaving late and being chased back to bimini by a massive afternoon storm....scary stuff..

Todays the day Sunday 7/1/2010

My 2 closest men near and dear to my heart, just took off from Ft. Lauderdale, first stop Bimini. Hale them as you see them, in a 22 ft cat appropriately named "The Cats Ass"

I was always envious of people who get across the Gulf Stream in a couple of hours. I make it into an overnight sail.
