Checking into Maine - UK flag

Hi,

we will shortly be returning to Maine from Nova Scotia. There are several ports of entry to choose from. Can anyone who has checked in a foreign flag boat recommend the easiest (or warn me of the worst) from personal experience?

Thanks.

Portland Harbor has customers and immigrations at the city docks and airport.
You can make arrangements by phone to have an agent meet you at the dock in Camden or Rockland. You may have to wait on board for a day until an agent is available to drive down.

Are you familiar with the CBP ROAM app? it allows you to check in remotely and you can get provisional clearance to go ashore in advance of visiting an CBP office if arriving outside office hours. Very easy to set up.

I realise this doesn't answer your question re where to check in but its a useful tool to be aware of.

Dave, thanks.
I was unaware that the roam ap was available for foreign flag vessels - it is and we used it yesterday. Half an hour of button pushing but we were cleared in, no problem, without even a video call. I think it s only usable on re-entry, not initial clearance however.

Re: Checking into Maine - UK flag

We used Roam, Uk flag and UK residents to check back in from Canada to US in Boston.

Got a very testy response by phone ordering us to dock for inspection. Got an aggressive response when we explained we could not get on a dock. ((Labour day weekend) Eventually met CBP officers on a ferry terminal at Hyatt having anchored. Was told they do not use Roam for foreigners. Accused of trying to avoid an inspection and threatened with a fine. Never did find out what for.

Guess depends who you deal with.

Friends in same situation used ROam to renter at Bar Harbour, Maine.

From what I hear, the CBP in Boston is very aggressive to all people entering, by boat or plane.
