Passage comfortably from your starting point, most cruisers would not want to do that with apparent
wind forward of the beam too much. Apparent wind is what the
boat feels - the vector sum of the true wind speed/direction + the
boat speed/direction. It's a comfort thing. For short distances this can be tolerated, even enjoyed, but for long distances it becomes a chore.
